Tocado

Tocado is a Saxophone and guitar duo that performs Bossa Novas and Jazz. The music Tocado play is melodic, happy and tranquil. Perfect, as background ambience at a special occasion. A key feature of Bossa nova is its cool, relaxed style, perhaps owing to the fact that it was developed in the beachside areas of Rio de Janeiro.

The idea behind Tocado was to replicating live, this amazing music from Brasil. The set list was inspired by the greats such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sergio Mendez, Baden Powel, Marcos Valle, Stan Getz and Astrid Gilberto.

‘Tocado’, in Portuguese means, ‘to play’.

Initially it was just for fun, however the group has been popular and has performed at many events including AMP awards nights, the Hatoneale Christmas party and many wedding ceremonies. They are also regulars at the Space in Manly and have acquired a following from the local Brasilian community.

The group can also be a trio or a quartet with Vocals or Percussion added.

Mark Chivers – Guitar

Mark has just finished a Diploma of Classical Guitar at the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney.
