Andre Kaman, born in Colombo, on the tropical island of Sri Lanka. Then in 1977, with his family, migrated to Australia, where he has lived ever since. At an early age Andre was exposed to music, everything from Elvis to Jimi Hendrix to the Beatles, even to Frank Sinatra. As he became older his musical tastes began to grow from his childhood staples of good old rock and roll to the r&b, funk stylings of Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Parlaiment, and Prince to name a few. He then became fond of late 80s to early 90s hip hop and r & b, the music of The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Bell Biv Devoe, Digital Underground, The Sugar Hill Gang and many others, began to forge his own musical journey…

Because of his hunger for music and performing, in 2000, Andre then started a covers band, Funkstar, with some friends, while working on his songwriting.  This band soon became the most heavily booked covers band in Australia, because of Andre and the bands explosive performances.  During this period Andre performed over a thousand live shows with this band, an enormous accomplishment, for a covers band. He also toured with Australian signed artist Paul Mac, playing many large shows with crowds anywhere up to 50,000 people, various television appearances, with artists like Lionel Richie, while having a thriving business with Funkstar, and being highly sort after for his dynamic mix of rock, hip hop and funk.

By now, Andre had 2000 live shows, albums , EPs, television appearances, enormous respect within the industry, fantastic image and profile, not to mention a killer voice to his credit. As if by fate, the opportunity of a lifetime came to front newly formed supergroup SUPERNOVA through the reality TV show ROCKSTAR. After extensive auditions in L.A., Andre quickly became one of the favourites to win the competition but disaster struck when his visa to work in the US was declined!  He has now returned to Australia to commence the recording of a long awaited album and to show the world that ANDRE KAMAN is ready to be, the ultimate ROCKSTAR!
